Residential New Build - Auckland New Zealand - Completed 2020

Gilpin was designed and built to suit the needs of a young, growing family with a limited project budget. The 450sqm flat and sunny site provided an ideal canvas for this design.

The bones of the home consists of a traditional concrete slab and timber construction. A blend of cedar and stria board cladding enhances its overall exterior appearance. A spacious kwila deck wraps around the northeast corner, seamlessly connecting with the living spaces. With a focus on maximising natural light, the four bedrooms are strategically oriented to capture the northern sun, creating warm and sunny spaces.

A built-in bookshelf was integrated into the living area, making use of the available space. The client of the project was also the builder, allowing for on-site testing of details and minor variations to ensure a refined final result was achieved.
