Residential Renovation / Part New Build - Auckland New Zealand - 2022

Located a stones throw from the ocean this home steals views of the water from the upper level and perfectly captures the sun filtering through home throughout the day.

A light and bright home that connects to the garden so the children can freely enjoy the outdoors while safety being contained within the property. The existing home was part demolished and the living spaces relocated to the ground floor to connect seamlessly to the outdoor living. The upper floor reserved for the entrance, bedrooms and private spaces.

A large sweeping roof covers the existing footprint and compliments the front gable allowing a humble yet strong form to face the street front.

The property had no legal driveway so this was a key part of the concept design. The result - a car deck that is accessed directly from the road saving the north west of the site for the outdoor living.

This home once referred to as the ugly duckling on the street now stands proud as a modest white weatherboard home.
